Há cerca de 50 que são susceptíveis a causar reações adversas. Eles estão marcados em vermelho e em negrito com "evitar" - AVOID (Não devem ser usados).
Outros aditivos em vermelho podem ser usados, porém, com cautela - CAUTION (devem ser usados de forma reduzida)
Outros aditivos não são susceptíveis de causar reações - Failsafe (seguro). Este inclui agentes antiaglomerantes, agentes de branqueamento, agentes emulsionantes, sais minerais, agentes propelentes, os ácidos alimentares, adoçantes, agentes espessantes, gomas vegetais e vitaminas.

BHA and BHT podem também lixiviar dentro de produtos com embalagem de cereais. Antioxidantes 300-309 são alternativas seguras.

Extrato de levedera, proteína vegetal hidrolisada (HVP) e proteína de planta hidrolisada (HPP) são meios dos fabricantes incluirem o Glutamato Monossódico sem ter que citá-lo no rótulo.
